Q: What would be a suitable sub‐floor for Piano‐finished laminate flooring?
A: Plywood or OSB single or double layer sub‐floor under layment combination. Existing floor surface including, hardwood, lumber or engineered wood flooring. Linoleum, PVC or resilient vinyl flooring. Existing floor surface must be permanently attached to the sub‐floor.
Attention: concrete sub‐floors must always be covered with a moisture barrier. Moisture barrier must be installed prior to putting Piano‐Finished flooring over substrate.
Q: What's the best method to clean my floors?
A: Normal vacuuming, dry mopping and or sweeping will usually keep your floor clean. If stubborn spots still remain, use a laminate floor cleaner. Do not use any cleaning agents containing wax, oil or polish, left over residue from agents can leave a dull film on the floor. Remove stubborn stains carefully with acetone based fingernail polish remover. Never use scouring products!
Q: How can I prevent my floor from scratching?
A: Use wide bearing, non staining floor protectors, such as hard plastic or felt protectors for chair legs and table legs. Use either a natural or color‐fast doormat outside, and inside each entrance to your home to prevent dirt, sand, grit and other substances from being tracked onto the floor. Do not use steel wool or scouring powder, could scratch the floor.
Q: Is the laminate flooring required acclimatizes?
A: Yes, let the planks acclimatize for 48 hours in the unopened packaging at the room temperature, in the middle of the room where the floor is to be installed.
Q: Is an expansion gap required for my laminate flooring?
A: Room humidity can vary according to the season, so it is vital that the floor is able to expand and contract. For this reason, make sure you leave an expansion joint of minimum 8 to 10mm(5/16" to 3/8") on all sides of the floor, around pipes, thresholds and under doors. Transition pieces should be used in doorways that are four feet wide or less.
Q: Can laminate flooring be installed on stairs?
A: Yes. You'll need to fully adhere the flooring to the stairs without using foam underlayment and follow the special installation instructions for stair installations.
